Author: Gesche Tallen, MD, PhD, Editor: Maria Yiallouros, Reviewer: Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h. c. Günter Henze, English Translation: Hannah McRae, Last modification: 2011/11/08

You were just told, "Your child has cancer". It is most certain that you, your child, and your family and friends feel overwhelmed by this shock and likely have many unanswered questions.

There are many types of cancer in children and teenagers. It is important to remember that every child, every teenager, every patient, every family, and every disease situation is different.

Therefore, the following pages are designed to answer questions that are frequently asked by patients, parents, siblings, friends and others affected by this unexpected, terrifying situation. We have made sure that all the following information is quality-assured by professionals and meets the current international standard of knowledge in childhood cancer research and treatment. We hereby also guarantee that all information is updated regularly.

For specific questions regarding you or your child's individual situation, please contact your family physician, paediatrician and caregiver-team.
