Fever is always a warning sign of which you should promptly inform your child's caregiver team. Fever can be a sign of infection. Infectious diseases can be life threatening to children or adolescents with cancer and who are undergoing chemotherapy.

  • Measure your child’s temperature 2-3 times daily
  • Notify your caregiver team immediately if the temperature rises above 38.5°C (101.3°F). Generally, a treatment with antibiotics is indicated when the blood cell count is low after a round of chemotherapy.
